It is the discipline of removing what doesn't serve the work, then defending the space that remains.

Capability without ceremony. The craft is in the substance — not in what we say about it.

Built for a person, not a persona. We'd rather make something excellent for a few than adequate for everyone.

The argument, he concedes, is not yet complete. Something is missing from the usual account — a small but consequential detail that appears only under pressure. The reader may have noticed it on a second pass. Perhaps the footnote is impatient. If not, the footnote is patient.

It is, at any rate, an attempt. The failure of a prior argument does not oblige us to accept the opposite; it obliges us to try again, with different words, and perhaps a different temperament.
